In despair of the misplaced love
And the perceptions of no hope
I slipped into Balladeer's room
And found the letters that he wrote.

I read of the loss and resulting cost
On which his thoughts reflected.
And determined then that by my hand
Their love would be resurrected.

And so I tied, with guiltless pride
His letters in silken cord.
Then hid the packet in my jacket,
Thus protecting this sacred hoard.

Kit's lonely place, so far away
I reached in a day or two.
And there I waited, with breath abated
For when I could enter her room.

The day expired and Kit retired
It was then that I searched inside
For the letters there, stored with care
Each stained with the tears she cried.

I silently gathered the letters that mattered
And replaced them with Balladeer's
Then I retraced back to his place
Where love lived throughout the years.

The unread lines that both had pined
Were set where they'd be discovered.
It was a matter of when they'd write again
And thereby learn they were still lovers.

For love doesn't know it shouldn't grow
When sentiments are not expressed.
It only accedes to the beckoning needs
That survive within our breasts.

Two lovers apart, feeling loss in their hearts
For their mate who was far away
Started again with trembling pen
To write what their hearts had to say....

Dear honey...well, it's been a while
Since I took pen in hand....

My darling, it has been a while,
I miss you very much....

Madame - Every so often, I do try to write something romantic. I hope I did not disappoint you.  I know my reputation preceeds me, so I try to bring a smile.

Starry-one - Thank you for the ovation.  I'm sure 'Deer and Kit appreciate it, too, since my poem doesn't compare to their's.

Karilea - I have been known to be sentimental, especially when I read so many wonderful poems you and other poets write in here.  Thank you so very much.  Hugs

RosePetal - Wouldn't it be nice if there really were postmen who made these kinds of deliveries?  As for the inspiration, this is a wonderful place with some many terrific poets.

Dear Ms DeVine - Thank you for saying that!  I look up to you as a great poet, and I truly bask in your compliments.

Irish - Yanno, I wasn't trying to be funny, but my reputation just gets in the way.  It starts sort of light hearted though, doesn't it?

Lng Jhn this is without doubt one of your utter best. I love it when you manage to bring a wonderful little soap opera to a happy end. This is utterly wonderful

You've crossed the t's and dotted the i's here. I love it too. I'll stand and clap too. A few calls for author and oh well done wouldn't go amiss either.

Fabulous writing love, utterly fabulous

I like this unexpected twist to the story Balladeer and Kit started.  Hope it inspires them to give us another few chapters.  Good one, LongJohn.

Awwww ... LngJhn ... this is absolutely delightful! Thank you for writing such a tender matchmaking twist into this series. A wonderful cadence and superb internal rhymes throughout LJ ... excellent writing!  I remember telling you when I read your first sentimental piece a long time ago, that it was a side we readers enjoy seeing of you as well ... you composed this with heart and style ...very much enjoyed!

(Lorelei ... you are a fortunate woman indeed ... such a romantic cupid)

Best wishes (and I hope you'll enjoy reading another version ... soon)
/Kit

Boy, talk about do-gooders! Geez!! You know, Toerag had exactly the same idea you did...and, after you switched the letters, he switched them back without knowing what you did!!! We were right back where we started!!

But thanks for the effort, LongJohn. It's a super poem about a super idea and I thank you...DON'T SNEAK INTO MY ROOM AGAIN!!!!!

Loerlei..thank you!!! No sense telling him who "My Mike" really is!

You know I said to a poet in here, can't you please get into this thread as the girlfriend next door and let Michael know she is sorry...but you beat her to the punch!  I would have died a slow death on this one had this not transpired, so from the bottom of my heart thank you.  However, he better give her back the romance in her life, or it is going to be toast all over again! LOL  You did good, real good!

How very true. *S* Dearest sailor, you've started the new year treating us to superb matchmaking and excellent poetry... now ya think you could work such miracles in my personal life? LOL

I love this addition... but a certain scalawag had better watch out. *G* His reputation as a kitty kicker isn't doing diddly to hide his talent. *G* Well done!
