Repost:

        Panning for gold

A man paints his face in sorrow,
From a kit of borrow.
A tear, a frown, a sad embrace,
Macabre he lines his face.

Molds it, but his eyes still twinkle,
Like a Rip Van Winkle.
Draws the lines in black of mourn,
The face of sad is born.

The mirrors image sets the mood.
A sad and somber brood.
He nods consent of glooms display
And stores the kit away.

He hides behind a closed curtain,.
Fearful and uncertain.
Stumbles forward in raucous view,
His awkward fall a rue.

The audience roars in laughter.
Howls fly to the rafters.
His eyes stare out sympathy clouds,
For mercy from the crowd.

Then antics follow in pursuit,
Honks and blows his red snoot.
And then to every ones surprise
Squirts water out his eyes.

He sadly turns his gloomy head,
Lays down, curls up like dead
Waving hilarity away.
Their ludicrous display.

He is an alchemist of old,
Turning sad into gold.
Making from his own disaster,
Gold, of human laughter.

This clever poem of analogy made me draw parallels to the way we can hide our "face" and our true emotions behind the computer screen and paint on a smile with our poetry...or in other cases...the poetry  will be the true reflection of our mood that we may try to hide. As they say..."the tears of a clown" ....
see how you make us think and read between the lines my poet of wisdom and rhyme
now Im off to see what I missed yesterday while my computer is still in a good mood *L*
very cool poem of imagery here Sy-babes.

Most curiously, as I read this, I saw come before me the face of a clown, and Emmett Kelly came to mind.  I truly drew a parellel between his life and this poem...

what a weaver you are, our Sy...

Very nice, Seymour....

He is an alchemist of old,
Turning sad into gold.
Making from his own disaster,
Gold, of human laughter.

only a very special person could have conceived of a verse like that.

JM,
Each person feels different about each word that is read and different about each phrase that is said, but you are the only one that reads what is in my heart and I marvel at the art. WW R S
