A State of Disarray

0 posted 2002-01-01 04:42 PM

There is a summit
That finds us all
But at the base
The expanse so wide
There is terror.

The mind cries
While the wind sings
And the emotions
Run to hopelessness
And to fear.

But, foot by foot
With pull and strain
The body climbs
And feels the toil
To reach the top.

Along the way
The mind shows up
It was behind
Burried in the snow,
In the emotion.

And dance it does
Around the shell
With panicked anxiety
Then joins it's home
Making only one.

On it goes
Body and soul
Scrapped and battered
Bruised and torn
Toward the peak.

Near the crest
To stop and breathe
The urge to quit
Seems eminently clear
But, no, not yet.

With steady crawl
Two bloodied feet
And blistered hands
On shattered knees
The point is made.

I can see.

Very nice. adversity makes the rewards all the sweeter. As Khalil Gibran said- only through sorrow can we know joy.

There is society where none intrudes, by the deep sea, and music in its roar.

Very nicely done, Amusemi
I especially liked

And dance it does
Around the shell
With panicked anxiety
Then joins it's home
Making only one.

the reference to the mind and the body as separate entities joining to make a whole person.
I also like the way you portray the the struggle as ending in a reward.

With steady crawl
Two bloodied feet
And blistered hands
On shattered knees
The point is made.

I can see.
and your point is made.....beautifully

Amusemi - It is a tough and long journey to find out who we truly are.  I know my hands and feet are still getting nicked up.  Very good.
