  A Softly Keener Place

I have been there
in the gloaming
following thoughts
in whim of wake
across all reason
out of orbit
into some far stranger gate

Conversations
past and present
speeches made
to unseen foes
imagined failures
planned revisions
in and out this porthole go

There is a picture
lit and lovely
deep inside
the cave of see
sometimes red
and sometimes purple
a kaleidoscope
just made for me

It is there
to light the passage
turn the rancor
flay the thief
just behind the turn of eyelash
is the door to close out grief

It is right
to stay the questions
the wretched mind
tries to retain
and listen how
the peaceful cricket’s
music of the night remains

I'll remember
velvet touches
songs of laughter
tears of grace
behind the darkness
night will take me
to a softly keener place.

Oh my goodness Martie ... this is an incredible piece, powerfully emotive. The phrasing you've used is exemplary ... heightened by the beautiful flow of these tender words. What a beautiful verse ...

Best wishes,
/Kit

You know what I like about this, Martie?  I can begin in the middle, work through both ends, start at the end and work up...or read it as written, and no matter which way I puzzle it, it all comes out on top...

an excellent write...

you have taken me to a 'softly keener place'.

Exquisite ... just so perfectly 'Martiesque'~
Love you~

*sigh* a poem filled with the softest memories that take you to that place. I went along with your through your words and found it to be a place I want to return to. Wonderful writing, with a vision that leaves the soul soothed. **big hugs**

yup...I've been digging again...

So glad of it, too.

This is a remarkable piece of work Martie...love the title, "softly keener"--
that is exceptionally descriptive.
