Ah Michael ... I am so enjoying this ... Happy New Year Sweet Poet, and Happy New Year to All!

This was inspired by Balladeer's Dear Honey (parts 1 and 2)

My Darling - Part 2

My dearest, I do miss you so,
Much more than words can say,
The time has flown, I wonder now,
Why I had run astray.
It felt like only yesterday,
I lingered in your arms,
Immune to all the world as I
Succumbed to your sweet charms.

Oh, how my mind does wander,
Back to then ... our good old days,
I miss your love and tender words,
Your kind and caring ways.
You worked so hard to see us through,
You tried to do your best …
My darling, I'm so sorry
That I put you to the test.

I should have been quite satisfied,
The boys and you were mine,
I should have known that I could never
Find a life so fine.
I missed you when you worked so late,
I tired of the chores,
I let my fantasies take hold,
And thought I wanted more.

I didn't know I had it all …
I couldn't see the light,
I let myself get blinded by
My selfishness that night.
Too many days we let slip by,
No conversation had …
Just buried in our daily tasks,
And growing ever sad.

I know you do not understand,
Perhaps, we had a chance,
If only we could resurrect
Our spark of sweet romance.
If only we had taken time,
To kiss a time or two ..
If only we had talked a while
About just me and you.

I think of what I've put you through,
And cry myself to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to take,
Through moments I am weak.
My dear, I know I've hurt you so,
Forgive me, if you could,
I lie awake each tortured night,
Just wishing that you would.

Now here I sit on New Year's Eve,
Alone and feeling blue,
There's no where else I'd rather be,
Than sitting there with you.
A glass of clear champagne, a toast,
Just like the good old days,
Oh, how I miss your smiling face,
Your warm and tender ways.

I'll tuck this letter out of sight,
Just like I have my heart,
And never will you hear these
Tender words that I impart.
I don't deserve forgiveness for
The pain I've put you through ...
But darling, on this New Year's Eve,
Please know that I love you.

Kit, what can I say? I feel as if I looked into a mirror I would see you! Of course, that would make you one ugly female but you know what I mean!! This is wonderful writing once again. Why won't you send me that letter???? You have my address - I don't have yours! Why did I marry you in the first place??? GEESH!

Now Michael ... ROFL @ you!  Let's see ... we met at a poetry reading, got married, went on a cruise (missed the part where we had kids ) and now I've gone and left you? What was I thinking? LOL!

Much appreciation to all ... and Happy New Year!

you two could run through a lifetime in poetry and still you would not miss a beat and there would still be a tale or two to tell.
Kit, fabulous.

Well you two are sure in tune!  I say he might have learned to be just a bit more romantic and loving after doing all that laundry, dishes, and cleaning up Kit, so maybe you should give him a break and at least peek in his window to see the mess all over the place you are missing! LOL, let him stew a bit longer, he is just getting warmed up in knowing what he is truly missing, and when you go back - perhaps he is going to give you a "peck" here and there while you are doing the dishes - it is worth the wait!  LOL, and you met at a poetry reading??  Were you two the hosts? Keep going on this it is wonderful and Happy New Year.

Kit darling girl this is without doubt one of your utter best. I knew this would have me crying So I kept putting off reading it until just before I lay me down to sleep.

Absolutely wonderful writing, you and 'Deer are a perfect matched pair, his letters your response, they are the same beat the same pitch.  You know that this is utterly wonderful don’t you, the flow and the metre are just perfect, poetry doesn't get more so than this.

Fabulous work Kit, and fabulous work 'Deer.

Now however it's time to bring out Marsha Spice, I said no more tears. Didn't I? I put my request in nicely. I said please, I said it would be appreciated. Did anyone, ANYONE at all listen? No I don't believe you did.

Santa has a list who's naughty and who's nice. I have a list too, a list of everyone who has had me in tears....... And I don't need to check it twice, I know who you are, and SO DO YOU....

It's too late now to be sorry, far too late

You'll be sorry now.

This doesn't detract from the fact this is truly wonderful

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy
But you'll be sorry

Good job.

This story would be astounding if told by one talented writer. *S* That two are doing the telling (and doing it so very well *G*) is testament to both your talents. *S* I don't know if Deer sees your face when he looks in the mirror (though I'm sure he'd love to have you sneaking a smooch! LOL) but I do know that we see a matched set of pure poetic perfection. *S*

But which one of you was supposed to supply the kleenex?????

Thank you so much for the overwhelming response to this series everyone! We had a lot of fun with this impromptu story, and I can't thank Balladeer enough for beginning it with his wonderful letter in response to Poet deVine's challenge ... so thank you too Sharon!

I very much appreciate all of your comments, and wish I could thank you all individually, but my time has been very short the last little while. I do apologize for that. Please know that I am very grateful!

Much appreciation and best wishes to all,
/Kit

I thought I'd pop in a link to Larry's thread, where he pulled all 5 links together for us, including the finale, so I can find these down the road myself.
