Set the table, I mean stage
mega cities on the rise
new year celebrations I despise.

money thrown away on the grandiose
hopes blown up in smoke, I suppose...
new year, new number
rock and roll and clouds that thunder
incantations, rivers of music
forests of emerald light
holiday bottles wrapped up sprite.

line the party squares
Oh, how I'm aware
of the debonaire and village snares.

Glitter, fuss and if you must
work your way to the avenues of glee
warm stages decked with festive fleas...
and scratch behind your ears
till the flea departs and eyes see tears,
I will abstain from crowdy swamps that mire,
gentle folk that work up sweat and perspire.

Martin,
If you are feeling like this, then Bah humbug to the New Year...you didn't send me a greeting...not even a late one but I forgives you and *HuGGLeS** squillions and squillions for the year.

Martin darling boy, well at least you didn't wake up with a headache. Me neither, but then that's because I saw in the New Year in style, surrounded by my nearest and dearest. On the phones, on vid and with love.

Have a great year kid, and keep writing, you rock

Love and warm stuff

I don't see the reason for the Hoopalah especially this once a year thing...to me it's like living in Disney World..that's hitting hard, but that's my honest opinion..we've got too much to do the world over to set people's mind at ease that America is a good place to be rather than just crowd city squares at the turn of clock!
That said I can still wish you all again Happy New Year, haven't been short of greeting people, Ebenezer scrooge is not living in my closet!lol

ecrivan~First of all Happy New Year!  I must agree with you about all the hype that happens at midnight each year...too much for me.  I spent it on here with my Internet friends and a glass of bubbly. *waiting for a greeting from you that did not come* (smile)  Although I am one of the first to admit that we Canadians are a little more reserved than our American friends...perhaps that has something to do with it?
Good write my fellow Canadian!
~Warm New Year's Day Hugs, Nancy~
