state of confusion

I’ve never had much
sense of direction,
it’s a genetic flaw
affecting the women
in my family,
our points of the compass
are off just a tad,
but I’ll do my best
to lay out this land
for you.

First, take the old highway
till you get to Eight Mile Road.
You’ll be on this road for,
oh, about eight miles.
You'll come to a fork in the road,
take the right one, that is,
the one that goes right!
You’ll be heading south on
North Fork Lane.
Proceed for a couple of miles
then hang left on Lost Hills Way.
No, I’m not kidding
and that’s not funny.

Lost Hills Way dead-ends,
just before it does
there’s a one-way street
on the east side.
I don’t think it has a name,
Take no-name street
for two blocks,
or is it three?
Three blocks, yes, three.
On your left,
you’ll see a sign near the barn
(there’s a cattle ranch there),
a hand painted one
that says – Darn Steep Road.
About half a block beyond,
there’s a dirt lane on your left,
near a stand of trees and a small pond,
turn there.
No sign.
We’re at the end of that road,
the house behind the house
in the curve of the cul-de-sac.
Got it?

Lol, No, I don't "got it."

If your poem taught me one thing, it is this...never ask a woman for directions (j/k - hee hee).

I enjoyed this.

Corinne--You forgot to give the city and state...sounds like a place I'd like to visit though.  Enjoyed the fun in this poem!  Happy New Year!

Thanks everyone! I drove 1200 miles this past week and started making notes of the roads that caught my eye.

Happy New Year!
