The smell of rain still clings
To the grass beneath my feet
Cool breezes blow my hair
And songbirds trill in sweet

Though you are no longer here
I carry you in my breast
Deep within this heart, my love,
Where passions lay unconfessed

There upon the hill I find
The rock where we first joined
Where love became our refuge
From our souls guilt purloined

Above the rock it still stands tall
Whispering leaves welcome me
The tree that knows the secrets
That we wrote into our poetry

I lean back to feel its warmth
Feel its wisdom envelop me
And know our love lives forever
Here, beneath the dreaming tree

I love your dreaming tree.  I have a dreaming beach where I sit and think of what was, could have/should have been and only the ocean knows my dreams.  Very nicely done.  You have brought back some memories.  Happy New Year!

A tree holds such magic, it seems...sometimes the strong answers to life, and, its secrets.  This was beautiful!

Beautifully written, Sharon.....I think everyone should have a dreaming tree.
My parents had a giant pine tree in their backyard and we used to call it the money tree......of course, we never harvested anything from it but pine cones.....but we still joke about the money tree.

DeVine -  I really like the title of this one.  This is a very smooth, romantic write with some very good imagery.  Well done.

Thank you all for your kindness. I heard the words 'dreaming tree' and it stuck in my mind and wouldn't leave so I had to write it out!
