      Storm Tuned

Torn the leaves of autumn
Falling falling no longer
Crisp with freedom flying
Unrooted and withered
Trod and gone to winter

In the room the window watch
Has closed the door to cool
And the pewter sky is waiting
In the stillness of the canopy

It is the watcher that binds color
And her light is casting no shadow
She sings across the waking storm
Her true of voice keeping her
From falling into pale

Despair is so damp
That comforting cannot robe the chill
Then in the echo of her song
She hears the first drops of rain

The sound is the opening
Where peace if found

To decorate this aging
is no longer possible, but the wind
knows, just moaning in the afternoon
changes the listener.

You have such a profound way with your words Martie, I enjoy reading you so much.
The last lines reach right out and grab you...this is excellent!

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

do you know how amazing your writing is...
it just leaves me in such awe and envy of your muse.
this is such a cool poem..the depth of it all, the imagery and emote.
SEA is gonna love this one
Its going in my library with the bazillion others of yours ...filed under: how I want to write when my muse grow up.

When your own emptiness is all thats getting through
there comes a point when youre not sure why youre still talking...
I passed that point long ago

Love it Martie!  It's a blustery, snowy day here and I miss the sound of a gentle rain.
Hugs, Nancy.

Martie-
There just are no words that do justice
to the beauty of your poetry.

       "Despair is so damp
That comforting cannot robe the chill
Then in the echo of her song
She hears the first drops of rain

       The sound is the opening
       Where peace if found"

Such a touching write this is.
   Once again, you amaze me.
   Hugs,
   ~Vicky

"...until you have read the verse on his heart,
you have not truly met the poet.

Martie, this is beautiful...and new! I can see that your Muse finally found some respite from the bustling holidays, and sat down with you, had some tea, and penned away...

doggone, this made me tear up!

*sigh* loving storms, as I do, I just had to read this poem. Even through the sadness this poem made me remember that as each drop of rain falls I find my heart releases the tears that fill it with pain.....**hugs** You are in my thoughts and prayers, dear one.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Martie, this is so heartbreaking, I can relate to this feeling so very well when I have so sense of wonder and my wings seem to be fragile for freedom. (big hugggssssss) This is so sad, sweet heart, my heart is always with you! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Ahh, Martie, your imagery gets better and better, if that is possible at all. You find words, I can't even think of...very gentle smile
