This is an old SEAdog's perception of what the woman must be thinking in re the wonderful poem Susan (SEA) wrote:

I wish he would come across the floor,
Take a tentative step through the light
Stammer out a nervous request to dance,
Make me feel like a woman tonight.

I wish he would gather up his nerve,
And not worry what others thought,
I wish he'd beg me for just one dance,
And not worry about the cost.

His eyes meet mine from across the floor,
I smile and beckon, "Come here."
He's fallen for my feminine charms,
His eyes drink me as he draws near.

"May I have this dance?" he requests,
As I let my body softly sway.
"Not a chance!" I loudly proclaim
Then laugh as he slinks away.

OK - Maybe this doesn't happen all the time, but it sure seemed that way to me

Toe Angel - Thanks for those words of encouragement.

Susan - Does this mean you will dance with me if I ask?  woo hoo - I prefer slow dances that last long enough for my sweaty palms to leave handprints all over my partner's back - heh.  Oh, and that rash I've got?  The doctor says the latex gloves can come off in another week or two.  I hope you like my scruffie whiskers... sometimes it's too much trouble to shave (or even bathe!).  When can we dance?  heh

Oh, LJ!! Have missed your laughter and "winks of poetry!" And for the record, I don't have the heart to turn down anyone brave enough to ask--I generally just LIE and tell them that I am not quite accustomed to my prosthetic leg!

ROFL. Come on, we women could never be this cruel!!! And here I was reading the first few verses, thinking.."what a lovely romantic poem Mike has written here", then you got that zinger in at the end. Too cute

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Well...I was taught never to turn a man down who came over to ask me to dance as it may have taken him quite a bit of courage.  You were doing so well in the beginning of the poem, and then,...well, I knew it was too good to be true!
*Latex gloves?* hehehe....okay!
Hugs, Nancy.
