Earth puffs smoke as World Trade towers
burn like metal cigarettes.
Souls are withering like flowers,
humbly bowing down their heads.

Silence will not dwell in brackets,
overflowing in our thoughts.
Sharpened hope rips through the pockets,
fills the linings of our coats.

Where is God if he exists here?
Eyelids shut the woeful eyes.
Trees, like hands, are forming blisters,
holding up the wounded skies.

Is there sense in all this madness?
Is there reason in this prose?
There is only sadness; sadness,-
like a scarecrow on the cross.

Mostly a good poem, but "maidenhead" seems weirdly out-of-place.

Best wishes,
