How far
would I have to go back
to find no regret

then, again
what point to that
I don’t want to start over
only forget

or perhaps
disappear
just a bit.

Do not try to disappear or even think back beyond regret, dear man...for it is not possible. Just be the best you can be a little more each day and your past will fade away little by little as the wonderful man you are is allowed to surface. ** big hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Duncan,

                      Or even
                       learn
                      to live
                      with it.

I know this feeling exactly!  Well expressed with few words~

Take care,

Oh boy, I understand this feeling well. You know, hoidays can be tough to get through for a lot of people. Sounds like yours was not so much happier than mine. But I think next year is looking good..

what dont kill us ... makes us poets?
I always say I need a vacation from me.
In your classic Duncan consice style, you evoke emotions that we all relate to well..
no words wasted...succinct and sharp.
well done poet sir.

Duncan:

There are times when you are looking for a cave to hide in and have peace and quiet.  A time to reflect on what is happening in your life.  Have no regrets - just hope for a happier future.

yet there is always the past and unsightly residues.Sigh!

My regrets once followed me with every step I took. I'm learning to file them under a different label. Now they are just 'some thoughts.' I enjoyed the thoughts in this well written piece.

Not forget or disappear, but forgive ourselves, its part of our human nature to make mistakes. Great poem, I think we all need to do some of that.

Duncan - Excellent write.  It's short, but it says a lot, at least to me because I can relate to this one so well.  Nicely done.

No use to fret
over past regret
but fall into tomorrow
with hopes for no more sorrow..

Duncan,
Your poem made me think of the time I have spent thinking of "if only"....Good job..simply said!
