Sonnet to Midnight

My spirit’s not akin to New Years Eve
My ear not tuned to strains of Auld Lang Syne
Not even stars of evening, I believe
Should mark their footsteps in eternal time

I cannot celebrate a midnight’s toll
That takes a magic moment in embrace
Irrelevant to mankind as a whole
Unnoticed by the glittering stars of space

Each morning’s birth brings joys that mesmerize
The way the heather blows as breezes shift
The meadow changing with the seasons’ skies
From green, to golden grain, to snowy drift

Each midnight sky, each dawn, I consecrate
I could not choose just one to celebrate

(smiles) Oh my gosh, this is sooooooo beautiful, the stars twinkle in your heart in this beautiful sonnet! (sigh) May we not make choices but rather celebrate the blessings each day and night brings us! (kiss on cheek) I hope you had the merriest Christmas, sweet friend, we all love you so very much! (big hugggsssss) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Well said, why wait for a specific period of time? I enjoyed reading this.

Every single time I read one of your poems, I am amazed and delighted, and also wondering how long a person has to write to be as wonderful at it as you are!  You inspire me.  Thanks, Carrie

I love the title, and this message:
"Each midnight sky, each dawn, I consecrate
I could not choose just one to celebrate"
I'll dance to that.

Wonderful poem!  I very very very rarely like sonnets (I concur with Ezra Pound on this point), but this one is exceptional!

With all best wishes,

Glenn Logan
