foil and velvet...
enticing eye...
glistening  in
the twinkling lights--
it smelled and beckoned
of entice...
entrancing me
with christmas spice...
and I so hungry
for a box
that would not come
complete with locks
the last one underneath the tree--
surely it must be for me?
And still I could,
would not beleive...
I read the tag,
to my relief,
written in a fancy pen...
"From me to you..."
in love, again...

I didn't want to open it.
I studied every crease.
the paper, folded, "oh-just-so..."
I wanted taste of memory.
I wanted to remember this--
a gift of love's remembrance...
In cherish, then, I
hugged the box
grateful you'd remembered me...
sweet perish then
as legs unlocked,
in tears, I sank down to my knees.

Oh my joy as heart beat wild,
and with abandon of a child.
I ripped the paper, pulled the bow,
tissue tossed
beneath the glow
of twinkling lights
of christmas tree
this gift that waited
just for me...
and oh I guess, the joke's on me...
and no, I didn't stop to weep--
for in the box--
dimensions deep?
was emptiness
for me to keep.

window dressing
for a show...
the store front
bought as presentation...
on display
the price I paid--
the starring role
of your sensation.

But even now
it's in my keep
the foiled box
containing weep
and every tear
I store within?
I save to stroll
my cheek again...
every moment's memory
I placed inside there
just for me--
a flow of sorrow
here, on tap--
slow tomorrow,
US---unwrapped.
(still yet another repost...I am apparently exhausted beyond words...merry holidays in spite of blues, yes? Love to all.)

Thanks for sharing this serenity, even if it is a repost- it is new to me. Merry Christmas

Another intriguing poem, indeed. This reminded me of a song by Living Color titled, Nothingness. I enjoyed reading this.

I didn't see this the first time, so I'm glad to see it now. Very interesting write, had an unexpected twist to it.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Karen, this is sooooooo painfully beautiful, I know just how you feel and sometimes it's just difficult to re-open memories from mint condition. (sigh) My heart goes out to you, this is sad but so very beautiful! I hope you had the happiest holidays, sweet friend, I too don't remember this re-post but I love it!!! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Then the box was not wasted for it held the thoughts that give us the strength when we look beneath the glitter, for the precious moments are in our thoughts that mold us. Ahh, Serenity, good thoughts from the pain of what was to the gifts of what can be...very gentle smile with a holiday hug

serenity - the blues I read perhaps, but from an open heart, as I see. Happy holidays to you, with a smile...
