This poem is for those that bake the treats for their loved ones. Especially when they share them with the lonely souls out there. Bless you dearly for your oven beats in the warmth of a caring humanity called Christmas.

The holidays are here
The spirit is again upon us
But we all do not share the same one

There are those
That time has taken away companionship
This is the period of total loneliness
These are the hermits of Christmas
Forgotten by most of us partying

They somehow got left out of the cycle of love
For them this is the season of gloom and despair
For most of the time
They would be the giver of gifts
If they would have anything to offer
And the only thing they are blessed with
Is a life of slim pickings

Let us open up those packages of gems
Sparkling in the wealth of the feelings
In which they were given with
But lest not forget to add a player for those
Whose eyes are misted in the tears of the season

Broken hearts of many years
Has left them vulnerable to self worth
But yet the angels fly in chorus with them also
Trying to comfort the chills of humanity

So bakers of the faith
Set your inside ovens on fire
Cook the sweets that might please
For the one who wishes he could smile
Again if he could

And shake out the demon of distrust
For offering something so small as a morsel
Can light up the hermit’s life
And the lights of the season
Will somehow glow brighter inside you
In the soul of the true spirit called
Christmas present

very touching, I too picked a humble topic or rather humble topics, referring to simple gifts and what today is a famous nursey rhyme. Happy Holidays to you!

D. Lester Young-
   I echo Balladeer's 'amen'.
This is such a beautifully written
   and touching piece.
An important reminder to all of us.
   Thanks for sharing.
   Hugs,
   ~Vicky
