The words don’t come, I have no say
my  muse has left on extended holiday
The worse of that, he took his friend
the one that helps me find my pen
No lines to write in poem or prose
no stanzas to be, no endings to close

I look at the screen and shake my head
for the fingers are numb and freeze instead
The keyboard will squeak out a word or two
I puzzle on them and know I am through
Rhyme Zone just blinks at my thought
instead of giving my the rhyme that I sought

I never thought I was very smart
but the bitter fruit is more than tart
Maybe I should sit under Newton’s tree
and have an apple come land on me
Even then, instead of a shout
I would eat the apple without a doubt

Ahh woe is me, and all begone
there isn’t enough left for a song
And if by now, you think, poor thing
I have to admit the sorrow does cling
But then I will grin and wink my eye
for it was all in fun and not a goodbye

Ahh, a case of holiday writers block.  That is a tough one to overcome.

This was very amusing.  I especially liked the stanza with Newton's apple.

Logan
I think you're ready for your run
seriously, this was fun.

Ah, you even amuse without your muse! Me own computer was gobblewonky yesterday, do you think it would let me in much to read and rhyme? Not for even a millisecond of time! But finally I'm here to enjoy your Ah Owe is Me, with an "attaboy!"

An ironic write, indeed. I enjoyed the rhyming scheme and story line.

Perhaps it's just my take, Logan, but I felt a pang of compassionate grayness rather than humor in this one...  I hope it was simply a temporary poetic purge and that indeed it was all in fun and that you keep grinning.  I enjoyed the "uninspired" read!   Joyous jingle bells to you, my friend.

Hi Logan--so good to see you posting this piece of non-poem...because even when your muse and pen holder are missing you bring smiles to many with your words.  So, you have no excuse for "not" writing.

Peace and love to you this day and tomorrow with your family!  Hugs!
