Up ahead in Rincon Pass, lay trail; I was a hopin'
Despite the blizzard that was blowin', perchance might still be open,
'Cause if it t'weren't, my horse and I, would soon be stone cold dead,
Twelve inches of new fallen snow, would be our final bed,
I left the lineshack hours ago, I'd been a fool to leave,
But I was wishin' to be back, at ranch, by Christmas Eve,
My buckskin mare was fadin' fast, I couldn't find my way,
The trail was buried four feet deep, I'd not see Christmas Day,
My horse went down, was now afoot, was time to say good-bye,
A cowboy's life is mighty rough, and then you up and die,
Near unconcious, I heard a voice, would you like a ride?
I must admit, my first thought was, I'd gone ahead and died,
But then I felt his viselike grip, he pulled me up behind,
I said I guess I'll take that ride, if'n you don't mind,
What happened next, I right can't say, because I don't remember,
Coming down through Rincon Pass, on a cold night in December,
When I awoke, was at the ranch, in the bunkhouse kitchen,
All the hands and cook were there, Cook, of course, was (*removed*)
Where's the man who brought me in, from Rincon Pass last night?
Cookie said, have you gone loco, in that there cowboy head?
We found you at the bunkhouse door, alone and nearly dead.

Up in the snows of Rincon Pass, a stranger rode on Christmas morn,
He thought of a time, so long ago, a baby once was born,
Said to himself, as rode alone, I rightly do believe,
A cowboy ought, not have to die, alone on Christmas Eve.

(sigh) So wonderfully expressed, dearest Tim, no one should ever be alone on Christmas, for this is the time of giving and sharing love for everyone! (smiles) May Christmas flourish all across Rincon Pass! (big hugggssssss) I love it! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tim, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
