I Have Walked
(Written for Denise)

I have walked the steps of history
Upon the bricks of time
I have heard a bell of iron ring
The silence of it’s chime

I have seen the wisdom written
I can hear the a voice resound
On the halls of past existence
That‘s inscribed into the ground

I’ve stepped lightly on the footstep
Of the one who came before
I have turned the knob of fingers
That had opened wide the door

I have sat alone in silence
At the table of debate
And I listened to the others
Ringing out the words of fate

I have peered through glass of ripples
At the portrait that it frames
As the ones who gazed out windows
Through the eyes of lettered names

Then I wondered through an iron gate
The meaning now complete
I had walked the steps of freedom
On a Philadelphia street

Thank you for taking us all on this walk with you, Elizabeth.  It may have been written for Denise, but I could hardly keep from peeking in through the rippled glass of time...

thank you, Lady Santos!

(smiles) Sooooooo wonderfully expressed, sweet friend, your beautiful words take us on walks beside you through your thoughts and dreams! (sigh) Denise will love this, just as I loved it very much! So very well expressed, sweet friend! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

They should all be grateful that they had a chance to occupy a place where, 200 years later, you would be walking.

Beautiful writing, Liz

Elizabeth, this is amazing. I feel as though you have taken a walk through my thoughts. I could never express them so creatively, though! Hopefully, one of these days, we'll be able to walk those streets together! Thank you for this beautiful poem! Another one that I will treasure!

You're welcome, Elizabeth, thanks again for such a lovely poem. I love all the history here too. I'm sometimes awestruck realizing I am standing where our forefathers did when they gave birth to our nation. A person could get lost in thought for a very long time...
