~* The Music Box *~

He handed me the music box
as if it somehow belonged to me.
It wasn’t wrapped in paper or ribbon,
only love that I could see.

She was the finest porcelain.
A red-haired angel inside an egg.
Her hands were held together in prayer,
she knelt in clouds engraved.

He spotted her in an antique store,
while traveling a while ago.
He wondered if he could get it fixed,
to somehow make the music go.

She had a broken wing on the left,
but outside of that she was the one.
Should he take a chance on buying her?
Could this damage be undone?

He said he knew he had to have it,
it was like she sat there looking at him.
He'd take a chance to get her fixed,
and purchased her on a whim.

He took her to a jeweler in New York,
and spoke to him of his request.
He mentioned that the antique store,
said if it could be done, he was the best!

He wanted a particular song installed,
and wondered if that could be done.
The jeweler said to leave it with him;
the challenge would be fun.

He went back in three days as told,
and was delighted at his work,
The music box looked good as new
so he paid, and thanked the clerk.

The angel’s wings where perfect.
The egg was now shiny and bright.
A tear even welled up in his eye
as he wound the key that night.

He bought the angel music box
as he thought it looked like Jenna.
It was a gift for me you see,
and this angel’s hair was henna!

He handed her to me like it was nothing.
Already tears welled in my eyes.
This time all the pain I held inside,
flowing out, no way could I disguise.

For when I wound the key to hear,
the jeweler had put in Jenna’s song,
through my tears I found myself,
actually singing and humming along.

"Where Have All The Flowers Gone",
tinkled away magically, so clear
from the little music box I held,
given by the son I hold so dear.

I asked him, "Why didn’t you wait 'til Christmas,
to give me this gift I’ll always treasure.
He simply said, “I Love You Mom,
and I'm glad it gives you such pleasure."

How blessed am I to have a son,
who feels my laughter and my pain?
And if I could have him all over again…
Well, I'd do it again and again!

I could feel the ache mixed with pleasure that you felt... Emotion so strong that it broke this girls dam and my keyboard will never be the same again. A precious gift like this is to be treasured forever. You don't get this kind of love many times in one lifetime. How special a son you have.

Your best poems are the ones you write when you're feeling emotionally intense... This is truly wonderful, Sharon - as is your son... Then that's not surprising, is it?..

A treasure...the gift...the poem..the moment..your son..your motherhood. I simply love this and know it is a piece of your heart. My heart to you in the memory song as it must be very difficult still. Tears are befitting such a treasure. A magical christmas moment.

Sincerely,
Regina

Regina ~ Was there a sweeter person than you?  Yup it's hard alright, but with all of you in this forum to turn to, it catches me when I fall back being overwhelmed.  Thank you and hope your move and journey are smooth.

I think that this is the most beautiful peice I have ever read (and felt). Your son is a jewel to treasure as much and the gift.
May you have a CHRISTmas filled with love and blessings from above.
God Bless you and your son.
Hugs to you both, again that was BEAUTIFUL †
