IF ONLY IN SIPS

We both know,
Your affections will mimic the sun's retreat,
Yet I beseech you afford to me that one day.
Though a fleeting moment, a lasting memory.
I'll pour a libation of my heart,
And present it to your tender lips,
And I'll pray thee drink,
If only in sips.

Comments:  I was going to write this poem as a love letter to a girl who I wanted to go out with but instead became best friends with. I lost the nerve.  Instead, I made it a poem.  Even if she could only love me for a day and then break my heart, it would be worth it.

Welcome, and maybe Love will still be the end result, for friendship is the strongest building block.
Thank you for sharing this. It is a very fine entrance poem

This is a wonderful first post. Moving and yearning, and very well written. I hope you and the girl become more than friends. Welcome to Passions, I hope you will enjoy it here.

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Skillz, a wonderful penning, indeed.  To ask for a woman to love a man but once, and then to leave, thinking it could be all, is sometimes not enough.  I wish you well, and I hope to see more of your skills very soon.

Very tender. Thanks for the serene moment. *s
