Like A Candle In The Window

I would never ask anything from you that simply wasn't right
And, I am not doubting that you know what is best
You read from a percentage of what the after effects in life are
Just I believe what may hurt some may not bother the rest...

I don't have to stand before the unknown to know there's a way of life I've yet seen
I have never had to be in another's shoes to understand their pain
Life is like a grid with it continuance of going up, down and side to side
But, I can walk directly behind another and feel it the same...

Like a candle in the window on Christmas Eve you see such light through the dark
An opinion of beauty forms quickly there in the night
Sacred stands still for a second in the middle of a pleasant sigh
But, you don't know what's really behind that glass unless you're inside...

I know there's reasons to why my nights are not calm
And, you breathe the facts as to why they still seem real
Though I have never actually have ever held the moon
Doesn't mean I can't imagine how it could feel...

I know I'm supposed to wear the miles in my life to find my peace
Yet, be able to look beside me and see your shadow to make it home
There's not a wind that blows that doesn't carry my thankfulness for the trust I have in you
But, then there's that what is supposed to be wrong that won't leave me alone...

Like a candle in the window on Christmas Eve is an image of what silent night means
But, maybe that candle sees the world on a new level looking out
Still sacred may burn in the flames as you witness from out there
Just don't hold it against me for wondering what you're all about...

I'm on the inside here being viewed as still as the night
I'm not afraid for you are always looking in at me
I know I've been before many, as in real life, just placed there by another
So, I understand if you look at me now the way they wanted you to see...

I'll appear here like nothing is even behind this glass at all
Like a candle in the window on Christmas Eve I'll remain what catches your eye
So, just allow me to burn for the world to view and go on
Just I will love you, like it's Christmas, every day of my life...

Saunni,
So glad I spotted the candle burning in your window...You seem to have a big part of life already figured out. I loved this insightful and challenging read. Well done. Loved the ending too.

I enjoyed your words very much,
and that particular phrase especially.
