I keep with me a diary
It is kept under lock and key
For inside lies my innermost thoughts
That are so very personal to me

The only time I let my guard down
Is when I take my pen in hand
Then no longer do I have control
As my heart seems to beg command

As the conductor of my emotions
My heart reveals the inner me
As I open up my soul
To reveal the person I've come to be

Many people don't see this side of me
Somewhat humble am I to reveal
That I've become somewhat of a writer
As my words help my heart to heal

So often I feel very fragile
It doesn't take much for the tears to flow
Especially when consumed in my writing
And my emotions just seem to overflow

So much goodness has come from my writing
And so many gifted poets I see
Who also reveal their souls
Unto the likes of you and me

It's true, isn't it, that we DO reveal so much from ourselves.  This is so honest and warm to read.

It is so very true...even within the fantasies I weave is the heart and soul of me for all to see who have the eyes of a poet. **hugs** This poem is so very very good.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

Sue, I wish I could go to Starlite and get one of your first poems and put it right beside this wonderful piece, and show you the growth of your poetry.  This was extremely well done, true and many can relate to this.  It is OKAY to bare one's soul in their writing, for as I have said so many times - this therapy is absolutely free and so good for you.  I really enjoyed your work in this one.  Merry Christmas my dear young friend.

Sue,
Cool poem. Can't claim to have done much journaling, but I like the sentiments and emotion here.

Very nicely said.  I think poetry is a chance to let it all out, express your mind and heart, just all of your emotions.  Poetry is a very magical subject.

When the blood from out my heart
Makes its way down through my pen
And mingles with the ink to form
The words I want to send......

Yes, that's what happens. You explain it well, miss
