Tarnished Halos
~*Marge Tindal*~

Sometimes angels get weary
of wearing a shiny halo
Wondering why others expect that it
is expected to continually glow~

All good things tarnish in time
though we might not wish it was so
If you want to be the one to cast a stone
be sure your own halo is still aglow~

Knowing there are those who try
to push an angel's buttons, it's true
And fully realizing this time
I got an uninvited push from you~

Repeatedly you pushed the limit
until you snapped the glue
that held the halo in place
So what else would you have me do ?

Take the advice I offered
Save it for someone who cares
I'll hang this tarnished halo up
for someone else to polish and wear~

*Whoopsie-Daisy~
Oh, puleezeeeeee !
Don't take life so seriously
Everybody knows ...
I'm just a poet-of-tease~
Don't cha' know ???

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

A most intriguing write...one could take it either literally or figuratively, I suppose. I enjoyed reading this.

For once everyone realizes that no one is perfect the peer pressure will be lifted so much.

Now what is that saying about.....you can't satisfy all the people all the time....well I have found out that I can't live up to others peoples expectations of who they think I should be so now I am just myself and could care less what others think as long as I love myself. I know I am basically a good person and that is all that matter to me. WOW!!!You sure got me going with this one, Marge. **big hugs** Be yourself because in my books you are one hell of a good person. I think you are just great and do the best you can just like all of us human.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

The problem with worshipping someone on a pedestal is that they inevitably fall. But it seems to me that just makes them more reachable.

I agree, Marge, haloes inevitably tarnish with time. Sometimes through anger, sometimes through impatience, often just from frustration. Occasionally, I think, just because it was the second Monday of the week.

But that's okay.

Haloes are first won by people who sincerely cared about others, else the halo never really existed except as an illusion. The shine may be tarnished - by anger, impatience, frustration, or even just circumstance - but the weight of the halo never grows less, nor can the burden be easily removed. Real compassion doesn't just go away, but is part of the person. And it's the best darn shining cream in the world.

Marge,
It depends on who's looking at the halo.
For me yours will always shine. Love Sy

Hey, Marge!!

Lose that halo if you want
That's not too hard to do
But PLEASE dear girl don't ever lose
That touch of devil in you!!

Yanno... playing ring toss with tarnished halos is a lot more fun than sitting around with a polishing cloth... and you get LOTS of exercise chasing those rolling lil suckers if your aim is lousy. *G* So... wanta game or two? *G*

You can hang up your halo, Marge... but only to wash your hair. *G* For a heart as loving as yours casts its own glow... I know, it's warmed me often... And hanging up the halo won't hide your wings. *G*

Keep that halo, Marge - It's inscribed -  It can't be passed on... The   next  poet has to earn their own... and we've  got lotsa halo polish in the closet - I ordered an extra case  last time  we ran out...

Margie girl dearest sister of my soul, and wisest of hearts. How true this is darling girl. However you are the angel of joy, you don't need a halo you shine without it. You are without doubt just fabulous

I really love this poem it is UTTERLY utterly fabulous.
Yes I know I always say that but then you always write to utter perfection. I wouldn’t have to say it was absolutely perfect if you didn’t always write so well would I? No exactly

Love and warm stuff
As always

I think this feeling applies to each and
every one of us from time to time...You,
like us...are allowed to put it down and
just take a break...Sometimes we expect
too much of ourselves because others do.

A very intriguing poem...not what I usually
see from you...but you needed it...thanx
for sharing it Marge..

Marge, great poem!  At my age, it is hard to keep track of anything let alone a halo.  Now I am sure there is No tarnish on yours.  The shine is always there and the words are what help rub the shine.  Lovely and here are some hhhuuugggsss,  ME

Marge, remind me never to push your buttons
You know I used to wear a halo but it kept slipping and choking me.

Marge, sometimes people expect too much of us. Never try to live up to anyone elses espectations. We all love you Marge. Just keep being yourself. You are a beautiful person and bring alot of joy to us. I love reading your poems.

Marge -- This is a lovely write as usual.  I can definately relate.  Although I often find that I am the one putting all the pressure on myself to live up to the halo.  Anyway, this is wonderful!

I love your write but I can't quite figure out one thing, not even by reading the replies and I think I miss a lot of fun if I don't ask this question:

WHAT IS A HALO?????

Kind of Hero???Well I can hear you think:
'That's what happens when the Dutchies come over to conquer this place,
YOU HAVE TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO THEM DUMM DUTCHIES!!!'

Ahh, that makes you feel better didn't it.
Well now skip the LOL, WHAT's a HALO???

DarlingTitia~

A halo is the glow
that adorns an angel's hair
It gives a loving appearance
that the angel is supposed to wear~

Hope that clarifies it
for my sweet 'Dutchie' friend
I love you for asking ...
You've given me a grin~

I love you~
