You Are

You are the apple of my eye, the candy of my sigh
The pink upon my face of shy, my favorite cherry pie
You are the wind upon my sail, the breath of flowers I inhale.
You are the touch of silent Braille that hides behind the veil.

The soft upon a velvet glove, the whiteness of a dove
The sun that shines the sky above, the essence of my love
You are a magic butterfly that flies within the evening sky
On currents of a shifting high, that brings my heart to sigh.

You are the evening shade of blue, the crystal in the dew
You are the ever changing new, the only thing I know is true.
You are the shadow on my door, the essence of my awe
You are the tea within my pour, the treasure that I store.

I see you in the mornings bright; you’re always in my sight
I dream of you within the light and sleep with you at night
I muse of you in constant why, mostly in an inner sigh but
I cannot speak for I am shy and if you knew I’d think I’d die.

I’ll bide this poem forever, a secret mystery
And hide it in a bottle and drop it in the sea.

Sy, I think this would put a warm smile on the face of any "you."  I especially liked the line:

You are the touch of silent Braille that hides behind the veil.

A very creative touch, indeed.

I found a bottle on the shore ... inside a heart's secrets held in store.
Whispered words written of adore ... a heart's pour not heard before.
Veiled verses cast into ocean blue ... a poet's construe in silent subdue.
Rhymes of enchanted imbue ... cadenced confess of a heart hued true.

A love so grand it took command ... heart in hand held in demand.
Afraid none would understand ... he set it free upon the sea and sand.
As I read his rhymes I began to sigh ... he'd written his love across the sky.
Penned his heart upon Heaven's high ... but too shy to fly, he dared not try.

So he cast his confess into the sea ... believing it not meant to be.
Never meant for another's eyes to see ... his words set sail on destiny.
Now I found this treasured find ... words entwined in poetic remind.
My eyes no longer in bind of blind ... the gift of his traces left behind.

His heart and soul in poetic spill ... his promise to love her beyond until.
With his words I felt the thrill of fulfill ... "You are there, yet here with me still."

What a shame to hide such sweet devotion in a watery grave...take the risk...put your shyness in the bottle, and give her the poem...you will be so glad you did...beautifully done!

Wow Seymour, this is gorgeous. I too love the double rhyming in it. What lovely romance in these words. Love JM's poem too. You have both written truly beautiful pieces here.

Sy, after all the superlatives have been used what can I say?
Will a simple 'thank you' suffice?
I hope so.  This is incredible!  Hugs. Nancy.

My husband wrote a poem for me once, the only one he ever penned called "You Are"
this is equally as beautiful.

Incredible write. You got the girls swooning and the boys back at their computers hacking, hoping to get some of that attention. LOL JM gave you a matching book-end. Great job...you two!

I do believe that you just said every single word a woman wants to hear and never does!  Heck I would have been happy with even a couple of those a year, perhaps I better print this and keep it handy for reference in interviewing if there is a next time LOL.  Oh this was fantastic, and JM was no slouch in her response either.

I so dislike being interrupted when I know the "good stuff" is out there...but on the other hand [there's always an "other hand" y'know?] I'm sort of glad I didn't get to this until today....what with the double whammy of two wonderful poets singing...

gotta love it all...
