Speechless in amazement...
I watched you walk away.
When you told me it was over,
On that cold, December day-

We both had said "forever",
Along with our "I do's"...
Now, after nearly thirty years-
You tell me that we're through.

The glamour faded long ago,
The intrigue followed soon,
Somehow you finally figured out-
I did not "hang the moon".

I wonder where to go from here-
And wonder where you've gone...
I'm trying to remember the...
Last Christmas spent alone.

John - a most sad writing, but one well known. Christmas is not meant to spend alone, be near someone, a friend perhaps, or some family. Peace be with you in your trials...

*sigh* I so hope that you are not referring to what you are really experiencing. Christmas should never be spent alone. **extra hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

May love and light always shine upon you!

I don't know if you are speaking about yourself here John or not, but no one should spend Christmas alone.  Perhaps a family member or a friend to visit?  All in all this is an excellent write and reminds us that not everyone is surrounded with family and friends at Christmas.  We should keep this in mind if we know of ones in nursing homes or even neighbours who will be spending the time alone, to take a few minutes of our time to phone or visit.
Thank you for this reminder John.

A story well told in verse.  It is a sad common story.  You did a fine job in writing this.. Roger
