A State of Disarray

0 posted 2001-12-15 03:37 PM

Reminiscent of burnt coffee
I have tasted the wealth of the world.
With stoic back pressed against the door
Leading to the path of the abyss.
In youth I plunged my hands in the silky vacuity
A perilous game with hidden rules.
Pulling from Gehenna the light from stars
Or the fecal stench from antipathy.
I would write the flavor of the draw
Toying with the gift in virgin sight.
The abyss taunted and pulled
Sucking the life from my soul.
For years I turned away from the source
Leaving further episodes of fish to the angler whores.
Then the bitter cup of ambrosia
Burned the abyss into my stomach.
And the air threw nicotine stench
Against the walls of my lungs.
The abyss became my light of stars,
To escape I must become the angler whore.

Mistletoe Angel-I am always greatful for your loving and supportive comments.  You are truly a delight in so many ways.

BC-Your comments always mean a lot.  I love your work.

Startime-I am sorry you have had tough times.  A friend once said that the things that don't kill you just make you stronger.  I don't know if it is true, but sometimes it feels like I'm already dead...just that nobody remembered to tell me.  Today's not one of those days...thank goodness....LOL!

I related much to this seemingly miserable predicament...  Like a Dead entity fingering my minds memory....  Despite that, I like this poem for it moved me....

An enjoyable trip to the deepest darkest sea
of our psyche. Glad you came up from the abyss!
