Illusive Liquor

There are so many days waiting
Waiting to unpack themselves
Spread out their contents on table
Pour into fluted opening the illusive liquor
That is often not tasted
Until the last drop is sifted
Through pieces of time

Yet I see how like a wing just opening
It can fall into a thorn tenuous and wrestle
And there lose what it would be to float
to the falling

Life is precious as this pearl of day
Dropping cold rain into the parched flowerbed
But slicking the street into the skidding of life
And you just can’t stop it

So drink it now

To decorate this aging
is no longer possible, but the wind
knows, just moaning in the afternoon
changes the listener.

(big hugggssssss) Yes, yes, we must seize each day and capture each moment with a smile and love, for time flies really fast and we must savor the flavor before we waste too much of it. (sigh) Soooooooo well-written, sweet friend, we all love you so much! (kiss on cheek) Wonderful thoughts, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Martie...I often think about my life..my
days here on earth...ask myself...are there
things I need to do now...before it is too
late...  If I looked at all of them...I would
never get one done...the list would be so
long,  I would drown...So...I have to look
at the really important things...try to keep
focused on them...keep going...

I sense that you are trying to make a point
of savoring life while you have that moment.

Yes,  we must all do that...

And if you have something you need comfort
for...please rest assured I will keep you
in my thoughts...my prayers...

You have written a very wise poem...I hope
we all can have those same thoughts..

Mistletoe..thank you for being so sweet in responses.

Startime--thank you for the hug and the lovely reply. Big hugs back.

Magnus--Yes, you are right, dear man.  Thanks for your thoughts, as you seemed to intuitively know that I was pulled by circumstances to appreciate what life is, and how quickly it can be taken away.  Hugs for your thoughts to me.

Ah our dear Martie...Even now with your pearls of wisdom.  So kind and loving.  Yes, life is so precious...and far too short, no matter how long we may live.  It seems to go by in the blink of an eye. We should all slow down, especially at this time of year, and treasure each and every moment, and tell those near and dear how much we love them.  You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.  Hugs, luv Nancy.

Couldn't agree with your words more Martie...
got to live it now, not yearn for yesterday or long for tomorrow...or at least try not too.  Need to realize what you have in the present and live with/for it now - to say what needs to be said, now...tomorrow is often too late.  I try to live by that so when tomorrow does come - the memory of yesterday is strong.

Don't always succeed though - we humans are a funny beast.

If we could capture all the moments of love and beauty that surround us, hold them close, if only for a day, we would be blessed. Wish I could send you a red poinsettia to brighten your day. Will a cyber hug do?

A wonderful twist on an old sediment "seize the day", I especially LOVED the title, reeled me in!

I just take it one day at a time.  That seems to work best for me.  Nice work, Martie.  I'm sooo happy to hear the good news about Mister Toe.    (((hugs)))

I love the imagery and sentiments in this. So many things can happen. Time is of essence. And recognition of such. Lovely and wise you are.

Love, Peace and Joy

Ah Martie ... these are the types of words and phrases that I so admire from you. Beautifully descriptive ... they carry such a visual punch. Loved this Martie!
