As life ticks away:
So quickly it flys
Remembering a toddler,
Now this adult man

Having seen the world,
Experienced so very much
Camping in the redwoods,
With relatives so dear

Swimming in that river,
So fresh and unpolluted
Then my teens,
So wondrous and pure

A drummer and singer,
In many rock bands
Band leader in own,
So young at sixteen

My high school sweetheart,
First love forever remembered
I met her then,
Later became my wife

Before I turned 21,
A terrible sadness came
Called Viet Nam,
Many friends lost there

Then later a divorce,
So nearly killing me
At that time,
Wished that it did

Now older,
Yet young in heart
Also in mind,
I've found my Creator

He won't abandon me,
Of this I'm assured
No longer in love,
With mere earthly things

I just look around,
Seeing my new brothers,
My lovely new sisters
Joined together in poetry.

Poetry awakens that inside of us that is emotive, caring and loving.  Writing is a gift. Enjoyed.
