Candy Canes

Candy canes hung on the evergreen bough
Brings my sweet childhood back to me now
Tinsel and Christmas balls, stringing the lights
The night before Christmas, in glittering delight

We’d help Santa decorate, trimming the tree
But then in the morning discovered that he
Left peppermint candy canes all through the greens
And I knew that he did it to answer my dreams

He knew in his heart, that I’d look for them there
The candy cane treats when I came down the stair
It was magic of Christmas and magic of love
The red and white candy sticks hanging above

May your soul glow in Christmas as the heart of a child
Crystal in purity, honest and mild
May the childhood joys in your heart never cease
May you have candy canes - May you have peace

The sounds of children and peppermints.  Wonderful combination.

Thank you for this.

Really wonderous verse. I love the moments we recall things through our inner child and our childhood. The innocence and magic still lives. Thank you for sharing this piece of peace with us!
