Do Not Call Me A Hero

~*Marge Tindal*~

Do not call me a hero
though I fell from a concrete sky
to lay among the rubble
as the world paused to cry

I am just a victim
of an evil force from afar
who sent demonic messengers
to inflict another scar
upon the face of Lady Liberty
for reasons we don't understand
Devastating terror he showed
in the massacre unleashed from his hand

No, I am not a hero
the heroes are the ones unsung
who still dig among the shattered ruins
digging up bones - digging up bones
trying to bring us home

Bring us home - so that a loved one
can put our name upon a stone
To remember who we were
before they were left all alone

Call me what I am
a victim of unleashed hatred
running rampant without pause
construed as collateral damage of a madman's cause

The real heroes will be the ones
who bring the demon's bones to atone
before the Mighty Maker
in judgement for what he's done

*Surfacing thoughts of the families who have to spend the holidays without
those loved ones lost in the September 11, 2001 attacks on America*

~May we all take a quiet moment of prayer to lift them in their sorrow~

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

*sigh* a stunning tribute. You are so right. Many families will have a much sadder Christmas because of the actions of a madman. **big hugs** thank you for reminding me.

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

They are in my prayers, Marge... were even before I read this beautiful tribute... for though fear has struck our hearts, our family has hope... and sympathy abounding.

And might I add... I agree? *S*

Yesterday, my kids talked about 9-11 and how it still hurts. I was blown away that it still affected them. It does me too. I just didn't realize, the impact it has had on them. This is good timing Marge. We should never forget. Thank you for this   and yes, my prayers go to all the families.

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Marge, this is so very heartbreaking indeed, my heart goes out to all those poor victims and their families, and may we all give them our love and hope to them all as Christmas nears, and let us behold the angel on top of the tree, reminding us that His love will always guide us all, and protect and offer compassion to them all. (wipes tears) I too join you in your prayers! God Bless You, sweet friend! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Marge, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Powerfully written truth, Marge.
The overused word hero is in danger of losing its meaning, and somehow takes the focus off those who perpetrated the dirty deed. Thank you for this honest heartfelt poem of tribute. Those who are still out there digging are real heros.

Marge....thank you very much for writing
and sharing this reminder to each of us.
We, who were not personally hurt are very
fortunate....Yet...all of us have been
deeply touched by this tragedy...

The magtitude and depth of the evilness that was September 11 will never be erased from the will and boundless quest for liberty of all peace loving people. We have to march on and fulfil the greatest dream of all, freedom from evil.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love
(Daniel J D)

A very beautiful write Marge, HUGS tight, my mind goes racing back to those images on tv when there were excitement in the streets at thots of finding a survivor. My thots go to hope not despair, as I feel there is too much of that in the world. My wish to all for a happy and safe holiday season. Many Hugs, thank you bringing this lovely write to our eyes and hearts.
Ter.

Alone in the dark, through my thoughts comfort I do seek, through my words I find peace.

Marge-
You've been reading my mind again.
Just last night, I was thinking...remembering...
and thought it was time for a reminder.
I should have known that you'd 'hear' me.
  Thanks so much for this.
  Love you soooooo much!
  Hugs,
  ~Vicky

Marge, you pen my exact thoughts on this one. Heroes are not heroes by virtue of being victims. Heroes bring the evil to justice that created victims...what a wonderful thought to put into poetic form...
