Below the starched white pillows
of low, snow-covered hills,
two merging streams slip and slide beneath ice
as delicate as dragonfly wings,
and the contoured blanket of snow
and sensuous crystal streams bounce
with the sunlight that is just beginning to melt
the snow and sheets of ice
so that they flow like dreams
of spring awakening in a smooth, pebbled bed.
