State of Suspended Passion

everything split
your thoughts from me
my love from you
I, in ache wonder how to break your heart.
Be gentle with your frivolty
and break me on a whim I can't grasp.
Love me in a tumble of words
and stake your highest claim
on my unsteady hope.
You open finally
and I close
doors shutting
slapping against an insistent wind
and I am utterly sadly forlorn
and roasting from the heat
of someone elses love
and the tender flavor you see in my eyes
is not your own
and I am a small part dying
while another one lives on.
ahhh...but give up on us if you will,
you uttered while the sun peaked through the window
of our last argument.
and I resolved in my mind I already had
and you, hearing the echo of that thought
in my eyes
danced painfully out of my heart
free to roam the blue wonder of the search again.
How can I tell you how much in thought of him I am?
how can you not see it when my arms
don't reach out anymore
because you once scared my arms away
scattered them with misunderstanding
and unwillingness to remain open
to the promises we made before God
and a million hearts.
What dreams do dance in my tired night
but of lost love that haunts me
and I have failed again
ohhh..how I have failed
and I am now the crumble
stopped somewhere between the heaven and hell of ending and beginning.
but don't stop, my tired words
for this is the only reason I can go on
these words that fight for me.
these words that only love knows now.
Don't you see, Sir, what you have done to my eyes
by pushing me into a corner for so long?
Do you not see the beauty before you
enough to make me, a woman, feel.
I need to be desired every moment
filled to my brim with the complete essence
of tenderness and unselfish light.
I need to be looked on
breathed on and drank.
but don't you see what you have done to my eyes?
I don't sparkle for you
because you haven't polished me in so long.
But, be careful, you..
for there is light breaking through your dust
and I am not so wary of my shelves
being spring cleaned anymore.
Just a little warning
that I don't love you anymore.
Just a little confession I have to make for myself
before I go on to the next poem
the next love
the next stage in my life.
I don't love you anymore
so why do I have to care so damn much now?

I am many.

I wonder about the time that you describe...it seems like you are at a fork in the road and you can still choose to love again or let go...and yet you are frustrated with the one you loved for not fully committing while they had the opportunity...and so you will probably want to go on and give someone else a chance...I think I just described my former position....James

Masked One,
Yes, it does. Thank you for reading.

James,
Yes..you are correct about the fork in the road and the frustration. If this is where you have just been, I hope you are recovering from it. Thank you for reading.

I am many.

I don't know whawt to say, I'm just sitting here almost in tears, this is so moving...so very moving.

Siofra,
My oh my. All that pain and you found the courage to go on! And it is in the eyes, I see that sparkle deep inside this poem. Love it.

This is the question of the ages dear friend.  Only you can answer it.

I'm glad that I've been finding you, I've always loved your work.  Thank you.
