Snowflakes

White stars from heaven float down from on high
Spun by a mystical cloud in the sky
Woven by winds that make white crystal lace
In intricate patterns that melt on your face

They silently fall in the cold of the night
And weave me a coverlet, icy and white
They cling to each limb in the woodland below
And make me a palace of glittering snow

I used to make a land of counterpane .Lift my kness in bed and let the blanket form mountains and valleys
Never did it with snow
missed out there

Elizabeth... I'm one of those poor Australian souls who are nowhere near the snow! When I was young we did, and I'll always remember how wonderful the snow was. This poem is just like how I remember it.

Smooth as silk and as beautiful as a snowflake itself.

This is much appreciated, Liz.  So very lovely...wish it snowed here on the coast.

Elizabeth Santos,

Oh, I loved this!
A snow lover I am
But here it's hit or miss.

I could see the snow shimmering in your view;
the moon making sparkles in the white glow created by the snow.

This is the first poem I've read here that made me want to reach out and hug the poet . . .guess it's because I can feel your pleasure at the beauty.  That's how I feel when we get snow here.

Can't say enough . . LOVED IT, LOVED IT!
