This poem offers an entreaty to those who view life as having
a cross to bear.

GODMAN COME AND GONE

Hark and list!

My tale’s mistold
The sun, its gold
Tarnished from the polishing
The meddling hands demolishing
Godman, come and gone!

The simple solution’s lost
Drowned in sinnings debt
But ‘tis not sin
‘Tis mindset of sin,
Its cast down countenance
In which ye choose to wallow.

I took the sins of the world
Upon myself
And Ye heeded not
The simple warmth
Of love’s allowin’.
‘Tis given way to heat of hatred
Seeded by debt
And debt is sin
And sin is debt
And it leads Ye
Into the future, downcast.

Ye are free I say
Lift up thine eyes
And there-
The future’s brightness, behold!
Ye bestow it upon yourself.
Take wing, sing, dance,
Allow!    Allow!
A heaven not a hell!
Dream it!   Dream it!
Seek and ye shall find,
Ask and it shall be
Given unto thee.

The mental landscape rid,
The “enemy’s”  boiling pot – the lid!
Shape thou the landform
Seed, till, and handform.
Look Ye ‘pon a future bright
Wish it here with all your might
For in mind’s domain eternal light
Dispels the darkness of the night.

And so I bid Ye now
To manifest, to manifest
The good—the best.

Joe...this is full of such heavy thought... both poem and sketch, and shows your talent as an artist and poet.  Most enjoyed the end:

"And so I bid Ye now
To manifest, to manifest
The good—the best."

Martie,
Yes, the first part of this poem is heavy, but the message in the end, is to "lighten up".  Burdening our minds with thoughts of being sinners and feeling unworthy is cross-carrying.  The message is that we are forgiven, our sins have been taken away, and we should get on with a joyful and productive life.

Hugs,
Joe
