I found her at an estate sale quitely sitting on a shelf
Subdued to the point of top class I knew at first glance
I loved the shape and pitna of her outward self
Not until later did I begin to wonder of her lifes dance

I took the sleek vase to make a deal, haggle
Then I noticed the smiles, nervous glances, smirks
Some one said the contents are free the urn they'd sell
The deal made, she is mine, beautiful, fantasy lurks

Now that she is mine I'd like to be introduced, know her
Well, a relative quite young? no? lived to an old age
She had children or was an old maid? being helpful they were
A picture then of my friend or some one from olden days

No two answers were the same but they really wanted to help
Please tell me about this lady's life and how did she become mine
They agreed it started as a joke now a bit of conscience felt
She had been forgotten for years, an unintentional crime

They put their heads together and memories were revealed
A kind, happy, helpful, sometimes irreverent pixie of a woman
Embraced all the relations as hers, sharing secrets, her lips sealed
Always there..the family glue..her life our life..until the setting sun

A sad day when she went into this urn too painful to remember
Here than gone..we were sure we could never forget her memory
Our grief slowly ebbed..we took turns keeping her from January to December
Slowly but surely the memories died..we lost her..forgot her you see

So who's idea was it to sell this dear family piece
To send her to visit strangers who neither knew or cared
Embarrassement from all..no answers..forgive us if you please
Now as of today our family pixie with your family is shared

No I will not return the ashes that live in the beautiful urn
In my mind she is here..we will share secrets like friends
Laugh and cry..feel her quiet but understanding concerns
As if we had always known in some way our lives blends

Some day this lady in her urn and I in mine
May rest side by side with a caring relative
And instead of selling our final home the solution will find
That we can be scattered side by side where solitude will live

A most unusual story.  It brought back a strong memory for me, of the day we sprinkled my friend Patsy on hillside of Meditation Mount, below the theosophists meditation gardens she loved. I wrote the eulogy, and spoke farewells for her family and one other friend. Two of her children were in jail, one chose not to show. The fourth asked me, as a friend, to make a dignified and simple farewell. We gave her back to mother earth that day, and right afterwards some doves flew overhead.

How wonderful for your friend to have a friend such as you.  She knows what you did.  Thanks for the reply.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh my gosh, I know how you must have felt, for I find it selfish somehow for someone to sell the urn of a loved one from another! (sigh) I am so happy you're caring for these memories so compassionately, as if being a friend to her and her family. (sigh) This is such a touching and unique story, I cried reading this both of how their family must have missed this person, and of the love of your heart. (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Janet Marie, I don't know where some of these thoughts come from!  Glad you liked it.  We are in a rainy cold(50's)spell but don't need the snow shovel!

Noah, life is strange and death more so.  We make arrangements but have to hope our wishes are carried out.  Hugs back to you.
