Sitting unseen amidst the trees
a chaw of baccer and my shotgun and me
Slapping skeeters and spittin juice
waiting on that whitetail moose
Heart pounding as I listen to a sound
Deer appears but antlers can't be found
A doe blowing and wagging or tail
I'm waiting for a buck so all well
Heart pounds as I hear a grunt of a buck
I can already see him in the back of my truck
My picture is blurred by falling rain,
soggy baccer and underwear stains
At last he moves in on this lovely doe
My God!What a beautiful trophy to bestow
I looked upon this buck with my blushing eyes
As I listen to the pleasures of the doe's cries
Mind saying shoot,my heart knowing not what to say
I guess the doe was the only trophy getting mounted this day

I like this. My father loves to go up north and hunt! I don't think I'd ever do it though...I feel bad to harm living things. well besides roaches and stuff like that!

There is no such thing as a white tail moose!!!  Unless of course you believe in jack-a-lopes and snowsnakes as I do!!

What a piece...no pun here.

I liked it.

Stevie...I loved your poem, now just don't go hunting any chipmunks or I will never forgive you.

Dear SP,
You just stop that! They need their privacy.(I loved the first few lines-they were hilarious even before you told the joke!)

Stevie darling boy, wonderful   I love the joke, and adore the way you wrote this.
First class. So shall I come a hunting then darling boy? Wouldn't you make a lovely trophy, I could keep you right beside Roger. I have the perfect place for you, both of you. You are a matched pair after all.

Damm it I promised your Mama that I wouldn't harm you.   So I'd best leave you where you are then. I know I'll send the wench in, you know you can't resist the flames Then I've got you

Love and warm stuff

(big hugggssssss) Oh Stevie, I too have family that love to hunt, like my uncle likes to do it! (sigh) I'm not the hunting type at all, I love animals and don't believe I can hurt a single one! (sigh) What a wonderful expression of a memory! BRAVO!!! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Stevie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
