Across a Field of Lilacs Spread

Across a field of lilacs spread
the dawning of the day
I thought that I would wake up dead
then flit, on air, away.

But, alas, I found that I
could still the morning see
in spite of slip of snow a-fly
in mirror there I be.

The letters in the box
did still my name quite bear
escaping them, like sly of fox,
was not the fate I’d wear.

The bills did come, I did not go,
they echoed hard my name.
No matter what I’d prayed just so
their levels held the same.

The months had come, the months had gone,
the weeks had multiplied,
and I did continue on
no matter how I’d tried.

The spending and the living
did pile upon the crest
of mountains high and valleys low
laid heavy on my chest.

Across a field of lilacs spread
the dawning of the day
I thought that I would wake up dead
but seems I’m here to stay.

So buckle down, is what I must
to combat the living score
and find a way for faith and trust
to do my living more.

Across a field of lilacs spread
a joyous scent of bloom
I’ll seek a path to give my head
and to my living...room.

(above not autobigraphical, yet I think we all experience elements of the feelings herein, at times.)

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

(smiles) Sooooooo wonderfully written, sweet friend, your words always have such beauty in them! (smiles) May His faith and love always cradle us among the lilac fields of our heart, woven with sunshine! (kiss on cheek) I love you, sweet friend! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Virginia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
