Hundred feet high,
these walls were built.
Sturdy stone,
Callous brick.

The key to my heart?
Buried within-
A thousand feet,
Beneath the earth.

Treacherous land mines,
Booby traps-
I'll use them all,
to keep you out.

Don't you try,
I just won't fall.
Those gates all locked,
Not one knob turns.

I've already seen,
what love is.
Open up-
become unglued.

Lose myself?
That's just not me.
I shall endure;
It's not your call.

In confusion, I falter;
I'm feeling unprepared.
'Cause all you do is smile.
And all walls begin to crumble.

What's this now?
It just can't be.
My defenses lowered-
and my heart just sighs.

Salut, Jenn!  Saw this little post and couldn't resist.  The title had me curious.  I like it... it's attention-grabbing, at least for me it was.

In here you reflect a complicated situation... people often wall themselves from one another.  Yet, Jennifer, if you can learn to scale walls, you will live a far happier life.  And sometimes there are doors to open, windows to look through... holes to peek in...
Just try and be resourceful and you might find yourself rewarded.  Don't give up on someone you have faith in, just because they live behind a wall.
Yours as always, sweetie
~Allan

there is no defense
against truth of honest love
for it shakes the land
mighty quake riving strongholds
built when love was in absence

this evokes so many feelings, but I'll just leave it at "awesome poetry, my dear"

Jenn,

Those walls can be tough to bring down. It can be worth it though.. I'll never regret that my love got past mine... no matter what may happen in the future. I wish you good luck.

Hugs,
