In the breakers misty blow
the same old heartache strikes again
a heavy swelling in my throat
                 far away from tender hands.
In a sure way I'll stay cold
                 on a windswept deck away
from the memories big and bold
                 of a golden yesterday.
A piece of heaven in my soul
turns to memories of the past
                 where a distant fire glows,
a lovelight candle calls me back.

                 In the breaker's misty blow
the same old heartache fills my eyes
                 In the breaker's misty blow
A voice is callin from the brine.

                 Here I stand alone again
                 ten thousand sailed miles away
with a cold and restless wind
blowing on my tear stained face.
                 Echoes roaming through my mind
of loving times at port of call
with the girl I left behind
                 on the shores of Montreal.
There's no lighthouse to be found
                 no immigration made for me
away from her I'm ocean bound
sailing on a cold gray sea.

                 In the breakers misty blow
the same old heartache fills my eyes.
                 In the breakers misty blow
I leave the light that fills the sky.

PT darling boy how are you? Wonderful writing and I get to be one of the first to reply. Utterly utterly wonderful dear heart.

As always your writing gets better each time I read it.

Eric this is an aching beauty..such a melancholy melody but as  always written with your gifts for turning rhymes into lyrics and wrapping them up in the blues
way cool write E-babes.

he said ... "dont cry" ...
said "it only hurts forever ... and all we have is time."

What an absolutely marvelous write~

'A piece of heaven in my soul
turns to memories of the past
where a distant fire glows,
a lovelight candle calls me back.'

Ah, the berating of the waves  ...I've never seen Montreal. This was beautiful. Lo and Behold! The Misty Gates to the High Seas!
