Saccharine citizens
Slaves unto the fad
To keep the form slender
Or go completely mad

Dietary consorts
Watch their weight until
They are slyphlike or sticklike
Tired, or gravely ill

Exercising maniacs
Pummel flesh each day
Give in to starvation
To keep the fat at bay

Personally kept trainers
To keep the body slim
And watching the waistline
Till no food enters in

With half the world hungry
A meal from slow death
Saccharine sweet citizens
Fast with each breath

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Yes, it goes with the competetive world we live in, I guess. Nothing exceeds like excess..even the excess of starving oneself. You done real good here, kiwi

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Lynne, this is so very sad indeed. (sigh) I don't like saccharin; it is unhealthy for the body. (sigh) I pray with all my heart that researchers will end this diet for the safety of our diets! (sigh) Very powerfully expressed, sweet friend! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Lynne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Keth darling sister of my heart, this is a brilliant piece of writing, the rhythm the flow amnd the message is truly outstanding. You're right, they become so thin there's nothing left of them, and there's mouths out the who would kill for the chance of putting something in their own mouths.

Truly outstanding darling girl

Oh Dear Keth.......what a wonderful poem about anorexia...it is so true....

Kethry~
Very, very excellent piece~
I've never 'understood' the need to be thinner,
but, I understand there are those who do~

I fight to keep it on ... others starve themselves to take it off~
While still others would give anything for a morsel~

Such poignancy to this piece~

My Diet Coke sits at my side
But I just keep on getting wide
I firmly eschew bacon bits
But have to check my chair still fits!
A saccharine citizen I am not...
If bigger is better, blessings I've got! *S*

I enjoyed this very much, Kethry... a dose of humor coated in sad truth. Well written!

Yeah... this reminds me of that movie "Requiem for a Dream" where an old lady takes diet pills to lose weight and she eventually drives herself crazy. What a crock! Why cant everybody just be fat so then nobody can make fun of everyone else because we'll all be fat!! You know, back then fat was beautiful.. if one of those gucci models went back in time to early human history, they would be laughed at!
