The holidays beckon, I smother the tears,
As I try to forget all those former bright years.
I've feasted on fruitcake and sugar plums too,
But the magic of Christmas is gone without you.
I've attended the parties and wrapped all my gifts;
But through all the happenings, sorrow still sifts.
I open each card and I search for your name.
Without you beside me it isn't the same.
I join in the carols, I don't want friends to know,
Despite the time passing, I'm still hurting so.
It is soon time for New Year's resolutions.
I ponder on mine with my morning ablutions.
I resolve to forget that you left me alone,
But I still feel a hope at the ring of my phone.
I want you to be happy, wherever you be.
This Christmas apart, are you thinking of me?

Awww Joyce, I bet he is thinking of you too but he might just be waiting for you to pick up the phone and call him. You'll never know if you don't try! ((hugs)) Happy Holidays

Such a sad poem Joyce!  Lonliness is a horrible thing, i've experienced it many times.  I'll spend Christmas with you, no one should be sad and lonely on the happiest day of the year!

(big hugggsssssss) I for one think about you all the time, sweet Joyce, as I know we all do! (sad sigh) My heart goes out to you, sweet Joyce, you are a sweet angel to us all and we will always be here for you every day, as I hope all your loved ones will come and love you these holidays! (sigh) We all wish you the happiest holidays! I love you, sweet friend! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Joyce,
The poem was very touching. I too hope that the man comes to his senses and hangs your stockings from the chimney with care.

Holidays are the hardest when the one you want to hold isn't there for you, for whatever reason. I feel the sadness in this poem, and can only offer you this small cyber gift of words and hugs.

The holiday season is definitely the hardest. Very well expressed, Joyce.

This is so sad in its beauty and so beautiful in its sadness. Many people feel this way, joyce. Holidays accent loss
