Between the Lines

Drained

this life, mine
has drained me
of all strength

unpacked my bags,
bled my soul,
milked my dreams

mind now feeble,
inadequate for the tasks
before me

you were right,
always have been,
and as I lay here

anemic, faltering
lacking the radiance
of words

I fade
into the background,
pallid, unsure

the rumbling inside
pounding heart within,
warning of numbered days.

~Wynter

It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul."

Late to bed and early to rise ...
or was that another way,
another day,... in disguise.

No rest for the weary ...
now if you were the wicked,
that would be
a whole other story.

I remember feeling slightly like this...when I was holding onto a woman...making her all my world...thinking I could not live without her...never wanting to let go...she was going on with her life...in fact in her mind she had "killed me off"...these are her words...and finally I was able to let go and find that even though it was not my choice to live without her I could in fact do it...and I hope I never find myself in that place again because it was a fight to get out of that self imposed prison...James

You will be missed, Maureen, your poetry, you...the person you are.  It saddens me
and yet there comes a time when a person must move forward.  I admire you.
Please keep in touch
Even better, someday I hope to see your name here again ok?
Merry Christmas sweetheart.

W/M,

Our days are numbered from 1
and some are printed in blue
others (we wish there were none)
are of an inadequate hue

But our days are all of color
in reflections of the sun
would not you be a culler
of a day you've dearly won.

K/e    (hope your colors are brighter today)
