No Wordsmith, I

by Michael
They're only words I sometimes write
You give them value that I don't
They're simple words borne out of want
That bare my heart to give it light

They will outlive the flesh of me
In an attic, gathering dust
For therapy, in these I trust
So I will have no need to flee

In words, I clothe myself, it seems
To hide the often naked truth
To heal the wounds from out my youth
To piece back all the shattered dreams

They are just words, no wordsmith I
I write of things I'd like to see
And often write from memory
I know I will until I die

These words are but a tiny part
Of what it takes to make the whole
The bath I use to cleanse the soul
My medicine to aid the heart

They're only just a part of me
There's so much more you'll never know
I'll take that with me when I go
Like waves drawn back into the sea

The stars will shine when I am gone
The earth will turn on as before
The gulls still race along the shore
The morning star still kiss the dawn

You read and yet know not the man
The author of so many lines
The heart that beat within your times
The calloused feet that walked the sand

But I am so like everyone
And all you see are so like me
We cork our contents, lest they flee
Until our lives are spent and done

Delightful Poem.
It has the feel of a Robert Frost poem
he's one of my favorite poets.

Keep Writing & I'll Keep Reading.

A Musician must make his Music,
An Artist must Paint,
A Poet must Write,
if he/she is to ultimately
be at Peace with himself.

Well done Michael.  However, you ARE a wordsmith, like it or not

Gotta agree with Interloper on this one.  Indeed Michael my friend you are a wordsmith, and we see YOU in your words.  thank you for this one.  *s*

On the wings of words our spirits fly....and our souls are free.

I love this one. Just today, I was talking to someone about how I don't think that I write anything worth even the mention of publishing but I admitted is like a mental therapy for me. Regardless of why we write it's therapy for the heart. You are a great writer and I who considered myself a wordsmith apprentice can appreciate that. Thanks for sharing your poem.
