foreign

I see you in some starlit land
wishing on moon beams
hair in one hand,
a river of dusk
weaving in your memory
such things as sun dogs
mirage on desert sand
comet tails by day
auroras in the harmattan
haar on the North Sea
mistral at Marseille,
and cat's paw
at the window of
some distant insanity.

No ghosts to haunt your past.
No twisted sight to wonder at.
No voices, no shock, repelled
at what you said tomorrow.
And certainly,
no thought of death.
None of that.

No, I see
a pearl of innocence.
Copper light and gold,
a river of moonbeams
rushing out to sea,
the trace of colour,
the shape of pleasant memory.
Your worst fear:
that you may go unseen.

And I see this:
The shadow
that blinds me, holds my soul.
The idiot
laughing in my ear at night.
The poor excuse for someone
I once looked up to.
The bettie page wannabe
who formula suckled me.
Lies, sloth, tyranny,
stupidity.
And more.
Dark twins, me
and what this might be.

There is more than distance
between,
and no wish to draw you near.
So I will listen.
I hear an angel speak.

Realistic
I liked it

A Musician must make his Music,
An Artist must Paint,
A Poet must Write,
if he/she is to ultimately
be at Peace with himself.

PoetriPrincess -- thank you.  I am constantly reminded, when reading through the work here, how much different I apparently am from almost everyone else here.  But I would rather be here than somewhere else, more like myself, pretending it's okay.  Thank you again.
