I had been sitting with a sick friend of mine.
Helping her to ease the time.
When one afternoon I walked down the hall.
And found a child, she was quite small.

I asked her what was her name.
She answered Star, by which it came.
She smiled at me with such delight.
I asked where her parents were at this night.

She claimed her dad had died years ago.
And mom was going to work and to home.
They were very poor indeed.
She had a brother who just had turned three.

Mom came to visit once a week.
And left with a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Something touched me deep inside.
That beautiful smile, this child did not hide.

So, I split my time between friend and child.
Trying to make her stay more mild.
We would play games of all kinds.
Sit and read and pass away the time.

I would bring her small, little treats.
As days seemed to turn into weeks.
The child and I had made a strong bond.
And of this child, I grew quite fond.

I held her when she was very sick
Life had dealt her a dirty trick.
For she had cancer at such a young age.
Being locked in a hospital, just like a cage.

So I tried to make each day anew.
Helping this beautiful child get through.
One night I went down to see her.
She was not there, only a blur.

A nurse taking the sheet off of the bed.
I said where is Star, the cute little redhead.
She looked at me and said she has passed on.
To a beautiful and glorious place beyond.

I asked her for a moment in the room.
My heart was filled with such gloom.
I knelt beside the little girl's bed.
And clasped my hands and bowed my head.

As I said a soft, low prayer.
Asking God for one simple favor.
Please let this child be up above.
For she had so much she used to dream of.

She was an angel as beautiful as can be.
I can still see her smile when she looked at me.
So I went back down to see my friend.
And told her what had happened in the end.

I was standing, looking up at the sky.
When I saw a bright glimmer shine in my eyes.
For it was a Star in all of it's glory.
Telling me another one of her stories.

Shining bright and beautiful.
Ever so so elegant and wonderful.
And then I knew she had been at peace.
For the time we had spent had made it all seem neat.

She shines for me every night.
And I let her know how she touched my life.
Now she guides me through the night.
For she is my angel watching over my life.

If we all had stars to watch over us
A gentler place this might be,

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Peaches, I cried all throughout this sad but beautiful poem, my heart goes out to this sweet Star, but I know deep down with all my heart that now she is smiling up above and her loving spirit is free and will always guide us, and she smiles every time we look up at the stars. (wipes tears) God Bless her loving heart! I couldn't help but cry too thinking about her mother, and my heart goes out to her so very much with love and compassion. (cries in tears) God Bless You, sweet Peaches, you are a very loving and beautiful person, and I am so blessed and happy to have you as a friend! I love you! (big hugggsssssss) My heart and prayers are always with this sweet Star and her family! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet peaches, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Peaches, I felt like crying after I read this. This is so touching. God knows, there ARE so many of these unknown children out there in this world. Waiting for some way to make peace with themselves, to make their days happier...

Peaches, I can feel the love you had for this child and you gave us all some of that love plus the want to find another child to love.  And a child shall lead them.  Your angel will help look over other children.  Thank you for sharing.

Its amazing how just one "hello" or smile can change so much.
