Take me back to yesterday or even the days before
to sunshine and to happiness and maybe something more
Today is not my day you know today is dark and gray
and even if you smile at me I won't come out to play

Take me back to yesterday when I was a little child
I could roam the pastures then full of flowers wild
Today is not my day you know for pastures are no more
large buildings placed on land you see wich was green before

Take me back to yesterday when loved ones weren't dead
when I could hear them talking real not only in my head
Today is not my day you know my head is full of voices
constant ordering me around I have to make some choices

Take me back to yesterday and I'll just skip tomorrow
and maybe I forget about the gray and dark and sorrow
Today is not my day you know but you can change that fast
if you'll take me back to yesterday I'm sure I'll make it last

A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess...

Titia, I would love to go back to yesterday with you and we could play and skip and run through the wild flowers without a care in the world.
Well done, and a challenge well met!

I like the mood of this, fits my spirit for today. If only we could realize how good things at any given moment.. not wishing away our days.. while somethings get better other things get worse with time. Good poem.

Titia, I do not know where this will rank among the contenders for the Challenge, but for me, it's a Keeper...

(sigh) I know you would, for tomorrow is always full of such treasured memories, but I know that your future awaits with many more treasures, as will the love of many you've known always guide you! (big hugggsssssss) So beautiful and compassionate, sweet Titia, we all love you! (kiss on cheek) You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Titia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

"Nostalgia isn't what it used to be."
I don't know who said it, but it was sent to me some months ago over the net.
This is a beautiful "Yesterday" poem. If I could, I would send you back a few days or years, to where the grass was truly greener. (at least in your homeland, which I was lucky to see in spring '71 and again in summer of '72.)

Dear friends, it will take too much of my precious internettime to answer to each of you, so I do it hereby.

I didn't have a bad day, just came up with Marge's line.

Thanks for your lovely replies.
Sometimes it would be good if we could go back to yesterday, sometimes not. As my old neighbour used to say when I was talking about the 'good' old days: Nah, those old days weren't so good at all, hard handwork, no machines to ease the pain in your back.

For none amount of money he would go back to 'the good old days'.

Charisma, thank you so much, yes maybe we should all go back to yesterday, maybe back to August, when all was still 'normal'.

My dear ... this is nostalgically lovely~
You sure seem to take to the 'challenges' of life quite poetically~
Love you~

Love the repetition of the 'Today is not my day...' line.  One of my new favorites from you, Titia.

What a wonderful poem this is Titia, you just keep getting better and better.  The contrasts in the lines were wonderful, and you have answered the challenge well (saw the rules now thanks for sending them)!

Titia - This is really fine writing.  I have read it twice now, and that says something for how well it is structured.  Very nicely done.

Titia,
For me, this really conveyed that sense of lost youth and of longing to regain it. Thank you for phrasing it so nicely.
