We scream our convictions
when we swagger through life

and whisper misgivings in the stagger,
imperfect in our limped march.

Shout doubt shout doubt

Like sharks, the wind, the earth itself
we must keep moving.

Some sail in perceptably smooth gait
where dichotomous decibels are even.

The length of other's legs
promote pronounced handicaps

some crippling in doubt,
others forcibly silenced of their shout.

A few find a comfortable little knoll they circle
where the favored appendage stays slightly uphill.

These convince themselves that all's
well in their limiting experience.

I know of one man who self prescribes
prosthetics of great variety,

Fervent Christianity, hedonism, Zen Buddhism,
interchanging in frequent frenzy

to smooth his walk in life.
He's long since misplaced the original.

Worn, we eventually reach for assistance,
a cane of sane, a walker of steadying influence.

Some leave their feet in defeat
and take up swimming

in sin, in alcohol.
Others try and float away with drugs.

We who write shout our doubt,
and that'll do for us.

RSWells,
You have possed the question and given the answer. In a swell of poetry. Enjoyed

From someone who is learning to walk again, I can't tell you how much I loved this....it's absolutely right on!

It is indeed a vice, writing, but at least I awake...sober...

Well Done!

And as we shout our doubt we somehow strengthen within ourselves and move on in life to see what more it has to offer us. I love the way you made me think tonight. All life is a challenge, we have but to meet it head on.  **hugs**

Love I leave with you whether it is in your life now or yet the essense of your dreams.

A treasure of truth! I also am very happy reading..great poetry. Thank you for sharing this doubt and may we all shout about its meaning.

Sometimes shouting with verse is the only way to echo our own thoughts, highlighted with rays of reflected light from a higher source of thought energy and power.
