When Sunlight Falls in the Yester Daze

As fog settles in, late this day,
I gaze at moon, this evening's rise.
Wonder "to whom it may concern"
these piercing thoughts, transparent lies.

When sunlight falls in the yester daze,
(unspoken walks of loneliness),
when voices fill the web of mind
to take me back to your caress,
I am a stranger to this world today,
feeling often, out of place.
Naked, penning tears to fill
reflections of an aging face.

Take me back to yesterday,
when loving was a simple act,
Two to share each other's cause
in harmony, not just abstract.
When truth was truth without the gray,
and world was rainbowed in vintaged hues.
I feel a stranger in this world today,
constrained by lines that I infuse
upon a wall of endless stone,
etched with memories, that leave me cold.
Take me back to yesterday,
those memories, in treasured hold.

Tonight released, unending thoughts,
wavering softly in candle's cast.
The eye of faith, bit blinded now,
my heart in mourning, for times of past.

Todays' illusions float the mind,
words seem tarnished in their play.
Between the lines, desires fade
as lost in feel, love slips away.
When message, languaged plain to see
of love for one, in silent ache,
is shuffled off as shade of green,
this world today, I cannot take.

I miss the fall of yesterday,
the strolls that walked me hand in hand,
delivering me unto desires.
If only you could understand...

As fog settles in, late this day,
I gaze at moon, this evening's rise.
When sunlight falls in the yester daze,
I wish to share these loving eyes.

Wow Maureen, you have put this together well, and I would agree that going back to when times were better is so tempting.
Good write.

thank you Sandra, I think I liked my yesterdays much better than I am liking today or the tomorrows that will come...It's great when you can close some doors and realization takes hold..maybe then and only then one  can find their worth....to themselves.

In one way I'm embarrassed about part of what I have to say, but I must say it so you will know the power and precision of your words...I'd forgotten the opening line.

Yet, as I read, I felt so much like I was walking through the clouds, floating through the fog, as if I was not fully me nor fully there...then the opening line of your last stanza mentioned the fog and I thought, WOW! she really gave me a sense of that just by the way she wove her words!! Of course, now you know that I discovered you had mentioned fog at the outset, but I wanted you to know, you likely would not have had to as your poem evoked the fog, its ethereal quality.
Well done!

A good title, Yesters Daze. Was the past real, or was it part of life's overall fog? Something to ponder here. Very well written, Maureen.

VAS...*s thank you for that explanation. I amnot sure why I used the  fog in the beginning and end...maybe I was thinking of the past few days  and the warmth and fog that penetrated our lives.

Midnitesun..oh the past is very real to me. As are my meanings in each poem...I am not dreaming and I doubt I ever will be a dreamer again. Thank you for reading and your comments.
