The Shores of Alone

It was a sunny day in Miami
(they all were)
giant grasshoppers wandered past,
startling me a bit
Ricky and I sat under the tree
his sparkling blue eyes gazed questoningly at me
He ganced around the side of the house surreptitiously
and quick, just like that..he grabbed a kiss
and ran off home
His mother was calling
we were six.
I sat for some time under the tree,
contemplating.
Not many days later
I sat on my back steps
with a boy of chocolate brown eyes
he was Diego, a real charmer
had walked me home from school that day
and stayed a while
he held my hand and I felt an odd
curiosity
Not for long
because he kissed me, a long delicious kiss
almost like the ones many years later,
abruptly interrupted by my Mom
opening the back door
who knows-if she had not interfered
we might yet be kissing...

WoW Sandra!  You have a great memory!
Wish I could remember the fella's name...if I try hard I can see his face.  He was a cutie, but, I was still scared to kiss him.
I liked this one.

This is so sweet and cute. I just read about Marges challenge, and when I'm done my homework for poetry workshop, I'm going to attempt one of the challenges. This is great Sandra...oh, for those innocent days of our youth

If she who dies with the most toys wins, then can I have some toy boys please?

Very sweet and innocent. A great look into your past romantic beginnings. Diego sounds like a little Cassanova to me! Enjoyed!

I can't remember my first kiss, Oh my wretched memory

I have missed the smiles of this place, and I've missed you, I've missed the way you can reach right into a soul and place the emotion there. Fabulous writing love

What a great memory! I remember my first kiss too, but I can't write about it for some reason. Oh well, Marge gave us many to choose from.   Good luck!
