if we are in the future's promising caress,
then, let us not concern ourselves
          with the hand holds of the present
for those hands will soon be let go
to be replaced by the arms
          of a long sought for love
a love that will hold us close to itself,
     run its fingers through our hair,
          and whisper to us the words we long to hear

so many times we ran to open arms,
caresses that we thought were meant for us,
only to find palms at the ready
          to slap us with the sting of loss
taking with that sting
     parts of our hearts to keep,
          crushing them, never again to return,
leaving us unheld

now again, we reach out our hands to each other,
slowly, always ready to pull them back
          should they grasp empty air
surprised to find a wrist,
     and then an arm, then two,
until we are held in that promising caress,
     a caress that, we too,
          are now ready to return

I am so glad for her inspiration otherwise I wouldn't have been able to read this jewel. Absolutely beautiful, Sven. I love the way it leaves a lasting caress. **hugs**
